If you’re sick and tired of blustery wind, grey skies, and rain coming down in biblical proportions, you’re probably living in the wrong country. Only kidding. But seriously, you are probably ready for a holiday or a break in the sun. If you’re looking for a holiday destination but aren’t sure where to begin, might we be so bold as to suggest Greece?

Greece may have fallen out of favour with holidaymakers not too long ago, but thanks to a slowly stabilizing economy, and some impressive advertising and marketing campaigns, Greece is now back as being a hugely popular holiday destination. As an added bonus, there, you can enjoy some of the best Gyros ever created, and that in itself is worth it.

If you’re heading abroad, everybody knows that the best part about going abroad is getting attention on social media, right? In all seriousness, though, beautiful Greek islands are a great way of growing your Instagram and snapping some amazing shots. Here’s a look at 7 of the most instagrammable Greek islands that you simply must visit.

Mykonos

Mykonos is one of the most photogenic islands in all of Greece. It also happens to be one of the most lively, making it perfect for those of you who like to party from time to time.

With its blue skies, white-washed homes and buildings, crystal clear waters, and cosmopolitan atmosphere, Mykonos is not to be missed. Dubbed the ‘Greek Ibiza’ Mykonos is ideal for snapping some truly special evening shots for the ‘Gram’.

When you’re not feeling the party vibe, why not take a stroll through the countryside until you make your way to the beach. Here, you can get some great shots for your page, before putting the camera away and soaking up some rays on a golden sandy beach. Not bad, huh?

Santorini

If you’re looking for a quieter Greek island which offers peace and tranquillity, as well as fabulous views, then Santorini is for you. Santorini is one of the most romantic islands in all of Greece, and it is somewhere that has to be seen to be truly appreciated.

Santorini is an Instagrammer’s dream come true, as it is home to some of the most amazing beaches on the planet. To really drum up your followers, just upload a snap of one of the many black sand beaches, and watch your likes go through the roof. With cliff-top castles, the Red Beach, the cobbled streets of Fira, and ancient Minoan ruins, you won’t know what to snap first.

Just remember to put the phone/camera down now and then so that you can truly appreciate the island yourself.

Sifnos

If you’re a foodie, Sifnos is an island that you simply have to visit. Sifnos is the location that the first Greek cookbook was penned in, back in 1910. Written by Nikalaos Tselementes, that was the book that inspired Greek cuisine as we know it today.

Known as the Greek Island of Gastronomy’ Sifnos is a foodie’s dream come true. Now, we know that we’re talking about instragrammable islands, but everybody loves a food pic on Insta, so just bear that in mind when tucking into Greek delicacies such as Mastello lamb, Gyros, or clay-baked chickpea croquettes.

The island itself is as beautiful as the food, though, as it is home to medieval villages, boutique shops, as well as traditional pottery workshops. Dominated by green mountains, quaint white villages, and traditional Greek architecture, Sifnos is an island you won’t want to miss.

Crete

Crete is arguably the most Instagrammed island on our list today, and honestly, we can see why. Crete is the largest island in Greece, and as a result, it has plenty to offer holidaymakers, photographers, and social media influencers alike.

That’s because Crete has it all. From golden sandy beaches, to UNESCO Heritage sites and historical old venetian towns, Crete really does have something for everybody.

Not only that, but the locals are also incredibly friendly and welcoming. For a really special snapshot, try to get a pic of the sunsetting by the beach. Seriously, your followers will love it.

Corfu

Corfu is another very well known island on our list today, and it has been hugely popular amongst tourists and holiday makers for many years now.

With romantic beaches, beautiful ornate palaces, and some of the nicest weather in the country, Corfu is an island that has stolen more hearts than even the most ruggedly handsome Greek waiters.

Corfu is an island where old meets new. Not only is it home to modern developments, it is also an island littered with beautiful Venetian architecture. For a really special Instagram upload, rather than going with a beach shot, why not visit the Medieval monastery up in Paleokastritsa?

Hydra

Life can get a little hectic and stressful from time to time. Sometimes it’s nice to take a step back, relax, and seek peace, tranquillity, and solitude. If this is your mindset, then Hydra is the island for you.

Hydra has totally banned motorcycles and cars, so it is one of the safest, and most peaceful islands in all of Greece. People don’t get around by bus or train here, oh no. They get around via mule. Hydra is an island that is lost in time, and we love it.

Here you’ll find old-fashioned Greek buildings, charming cobbled streets and alleys, as well as museums and cafes.

If you insist on beach snaps for Insta, then why not hop on a sea taxi and explore some of the virtually undiscovered beach coves along Hydra’s beautiful and rugged coastline?

Rhodes

If you want to upload some slightly different travel photos to your Instagram account, then Rhodes is the perfect place to visit.

Rhodes was once home to the ‘Colossus’ which was once one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Sadly, experts believe that an earthquake destroyed it many centuries ago, so no snaps of that.

The good news is that Rhodes’ Old Town is a UNESCOHeritage Site steeped in ancient Medieval history. With old inns, and properties formerly inhabited by Medieval Knights, the right photo of Rhodes is sure to fill up your DMs.

Until then, don’t stop wandering!
